Autumn
chilly mornings
the scent of vanilla mixed with turning leaves
apple-picking and turtlenecks
taking out the fleece
putting up the summer sheets
new england clam chowder
sunlight over hills turned yellow and orange, umber and red
shorter days
sunsets on the way home
pumpkins and cider
the first hint of snow in the air
Dreams I've Had
spinning wool and comets falling
music and dancing
dark
light
giving birth in italy without seeing rome,
arriving at the hospital in the rain with a dark-haired faceless husband, ready to have our child
but scared
ugly weddings where i serve punch
a daughter playing in the back yard
kissing Giovanni Ribisi
