Jetplanes and Whatnot...
Soon I will have to begin the sad task of packing, so I am blogging instead while Ruth gets a termite quote. This is my last full day of Australia, and I am sad to be leaving. We don't talk about it:)
This morning we got up early (though Ruth was already up) and drove to Hallet Cove. It was perfect as a goodbye drive. It has been a bit cloudy and rainy the past several days, but the sun came out today and the sky is it's normal gorgeous blue. Hallet Cove is oceanside (or gulf-side, which leads into the ocean anyway) conservation park area that was formed by glaciers. It reminded me that we are only a few thousand miles away from Antartica, about the distance from Boston to LA. The ocean is huge there, and it showed off for me today. We saw gulls and dolphins playing in the distance, and the rocks and bluffs formed by the ancient glaciers were amazing. We took a steep hill down to the beach, which was mainly lots of rock formations and pebbles and periwinkles. I found one of my new favorite spots, on the jagged rocks, watching the little waves crash in. It's an understatement and repetitive of me to say that it was absolutely gorgeous. The beauty I've seen here takes my breath away, to be trite, and I'm often left just gaping and saying how incredible the view is over and over again.
I believe Ruth is done now, and that we will be going to hold another koala....
